Coastal resort towns of Livorno province (Marina di Cecina, Marina di Bibbona, Marina Castagneto Carducci, Piombino, San Vincenzo and many other) are busy in the summer offering to tourists many activities and things to do such as tennis, horse riding, mountain biking, mini golf, sailing, surfing, water skiing and more.

This city is a capital of Livorno province in Tuscany, Italy, which is located right along the western Tuscan coast having a shape of a narrow stripe.

Getting to Livorno Italy

Getting from Florence to Livorno and back

Getting from Livorno to Florence and back is one of the most common questions I get from tourists in Livorno. In reality, traveling from Florence to Livorno by train is very easy and convenient as there are direct trains going about 16 times a day. The trip will take you about 1,5 hour.

Getting from Livorno to Pisa and back

Train from Livorno to Pisa is going very frequently too, costs only 2 Euro and has trip duration of only 15 minutes. Moreover, it's also easy to get from Livorno to Pisa and back by bus which goes every 30 minutes, but traveling to Pisa by bus will take you longer than by train - about 45 minutes. You can take a bus to Pisa on Piazza Grande in Livorno.

Ferry company Corsica Ferries organizes ferries from Livorno to Bastia on Corsica every day in the summer and 2-3 times a week in the winter.

Sardinia Ferries provides the ferry service from Livorno port to Golfo Aranci near Olbia on Sardinia island, daily in the summer and 4 times a week in the winter.

Other Livorno ferry companies are Lloyd Sardegna which organizes daily ferry trips from port of Livorno to Sardinia (Olbia). Moby provides both ferry from Livorno to Bastia, Corsica and to Olbia, Sardinia. Toremar send their ferries from Livorno to Isola di Capraia.

Things to Do and See in Livorno

Old fortress - symbol of Livorno - which was built in 1521 - 1534 y.y. by Antonio da Sangallo and has remained almost untouched up till now. Inside the fortress you will find small church San Francisco.

"Four moors" statue in Livorno on Piazza Giuseppe Michele which was built in 1596 in honor of Ferdinand Medici. Ferdinando I Medici is up on pedestal, and below there are 4 bronze pirates figures.

The facade of Livorno Cathedral (Duomo) of 16-18 centuries is totally furnished with marble.

Giovanni Fattori museum situated inside of Villa Fabricotti park is another sightseeing in Livorno having historical and cultural value. Many paintings are unique coming from prehistoric times.
