The calories in red wine depend on the particular wine but in general wine does not belong to high-calorie foods. Red wine calories depend on the amount of sugars - glucose and fructose - and the amount of alcohol.


The average amount of red wine calories in a standard wine bottle is 625 (and 603 calories for white wine - for comparison).

The amount of calories in red wine poured in a standard glass - about 150 ml - is 125 (and 121 for white wine relatively).

Note that sweet red wine tend to have a higher calorie value than dry red wines. Port wines are the most high-calorie of all.
